Lower Manhattan, 60th floor of 28 Liberty Street

Weddings at Manhatta

Manhatta sits on the sixtieth floor of 28 Liberty Street in the Financial District, a room of stone, bronze and glass designed by Woods Bagot, with the harbor, the East River and the bridges laid out below. It is a restaurant from Union Square Hospitality Group, which means the food is the point, and a full buyout turns the whole floor into one private evening.

What makes Manhatta special

Height, and the quiet that comes with it. Few rooms in New York put a wedding this far above the city, and at sunset the harbor turns gold before the towers light up. Because the room is a working restaurant, the menu is built by its own kitchen, season by season, and the service has the precision of a dining room rather than a banquet hall.

Private roomsRehearsal and welcome dinners

Manhatta lists eight event spaces, from intimate private dining to the full floor. The smaller rooms suit a rehearsal or welcome dinner.

A planner’s notes on Manhatta

Time the evening to the light

Sunset over the harbor is the reason to be here. The timeline should put the first toast, or the ceremony itself, in that half hour, and the portraits just before it.

Arrival at a tower

Guests arrive through a lobby and an express elevator, so arrival is a sequence to design: who greets them, what they hold, what they see when the doors open. We plan the arrival with the restaurant, so a large group reaches the floor without a queue.

A restaurant first

In a working restaurant, the date and the hours of a buyout are the first questions. We confirm them with the restaurant before anything else is planned.

Pairs with a downtown weekend

Manhatta suits a welcome dinner as well as a wedding, for a weekend in Lower Manhattan or Brooklyn. See wedding weekends.

Questions about Manhatta

Can you plan our wedding at Manhatta?

Yes. We plan and design weddings across Manhattan, including in restaurants that close for a private buyout.

How many guests does Manhatta hold for a wedding?

It depends on the room, from a private dining room to the full floor. Manhatta confirms current capacities, and we plan the floor around your guest list.

Can the ceremony be held at Manhatta?

Ask the restaurant about a ceremony on the floor for your date. Many couples marry nearby and come to Manhatta for the evening, with the view as the reward.
