Destination weddings, planned from New York

Sense of Moment plans destination weddings for families based in New York, and for international families who want a New York house to carry them abroad. We plan from New York with one point of contact, travel for the site visits and the wedding itself, and work with local teams we have chosen and vetted.
Why a New York planner, abroad
Most of a destination wedding is decided before anyone travels: the venue, the team, the guest list, the travel, the budget. A planner in your own time zone, who knows your family and your guests, carries all of it. On the ground we work with local producers and vendors we have met and tested, so nothing depends on a stranger.
Where we work
We take on a destination when we can build a team there that we trust: we travel to see the venue and meet the local producers before anything is signed.
If a place is outside what we know well, we say so in the first conversation, and we tell you what it would take to do it properly.
Guests who travel for you
A destination wedding asks a great deal of its guests, so we plan their trip as carefully as the day: when to announce the date, which flights to suggest, where to stay, transfers, a welcome on arrival and a plan for every day they are there. See wedding weekends.
The legal side
In many countries a legal marriage for visitors is complicated, and many of our couples marry legally at home and hold the ceremony abroad. We plan around whichever the family chooses, and we set out the paperwork and the timing for either route early, so it never becomes a question in the final months.
How a destination wedding comes together
14 to 20 months before
The place
We shortlist destinations and venues with the family, then travel to see the strongest of them.
12 to 14 months before
The date and the guests
The venue is secured and guests hear early, with enough time to plan their travel.
8 to 12 months before
The local team
Caterer, florist, music, transport and production, chosen on the ground and contracted from New York.
3 to 8 months before
Design and the guest trip
The design, the welcome dinner and the days around the wedding, with room blocks, transfers and itineraries.
The week of
On site
Our team arrives ahead of the guests and runs every occasion, from the first transfer to the last departure.
What the family feels
Arrival. A family lands somewhere far from home and finds everything already in place: the cars waiting, the rooms ready, a note from us on the pillow and a plan for the evening. From that moment, the trip belongs to them.

Questions couples ask
Do you plan destination weddings?
Yes. We plan weddings abroad for New York families and for international families, wherever we can build a local team we trust.
Do you travel for the wedding?
Yes. Our team travels for the site visits and arrives ahead of the guests for the wedding itself.
Should we marry legally at home or abroad?
It depends on the country. Many couples marry legally at home, which is simpler, and hold the ceremony abroad. We plan around whichever you choose.
How early should we start a destination wedding?
Earlier than for a wedding at home, ideally fourteen months or more, so guests have time to plan travel.
