Weddings at the Harmonie Club

The Harmonie Club was founded in 1852, and its clubhouse at 4 East 60th Street, designed by Stanford White of McKim, Mead and White, has stood a few steps from Fifth Avenue and Central Park since 1905. Inside are soaring ceilings, carved detail and chandeliers made for the club, rooms that suit a formal wedding, a family celebration of several generations, and a dinner the night before.

What makes the Harmonie Club special

It is a private house as much as a venue: rooms built for members’ own celebrations, and a staff used to hosting families rather than crowds. The architecture is Gilded Age New York at its most assured, and a wedding here feels like being received in someone’s home.

Rooms with soaring ceilings, carved detail and chandeliers made for the club, which suit a ceremony, a seated dinner and dancing under one roof. The club confirms current capacities for each.

A planner’s notes on The Harmonie Club

A private club’s etiquette

Clubs have their own rules: dress, photography, music, the hours of an event, and sometimes who may book. We learn them before the design begins.

Minutes from the Plaza and the park

Central Park and Fifth Avenue are steps away, so portraits in the park fit into the afternoon without a long drive.

Generations in one room

A club like this comes into its own for a wedding where grandparents and grandchildren share the evening. We plan the seating and the pace of the night around them.

Questions about The Harmonie Club

Can you plan our wedding at the Harmonie Club?

Yes. We plan and design weddings in New York’s private clubs, and we work within each club’s rules from the start.

Do we need to be members to marry at the Harmonie Club?

The club is private and sets its own policy for events. Ask the club directly whether a member’s sponsorship is needed for your wedding; we are glad to help with that first conversation.

How many guests does the Harmonie Club hold?

The rooms suit a formal wedding of several generations. The club confirms current capacities, and we plan the floor around your guest list.
