Weddings at 620 Loft & Garden

Above the Channel Gardens at Rockefeller Center, on the roof of 620 Fifth Avenue, is one of the gardens the complex was famous for in the 1930s: a lawn, formal planting and a reflecting pool that holds St. Patrick’s Cathedral in its surface. Beside it is a loft with tall windows. Together they make a garden wedding in the middle of Midtown.

What makes 620 Loft & Garden special

The cathedral. From the garden, the spires of St. Patrick’s rise directly across Fifth Avenue, so a ceremony here has the city’s most famous church as its backdrop without anyone having to leave the roof. The garden holds the ceremony and cocktails; the loft holds dinner, with the garden still in view.

The historic rooftop lawn and reflecting pool, facing St. Patrick’s Cathedral. It suits an intimate ceremony and dinner in the open air.

The renovated indoor loft with its large windows. It holds a larger dinner than the garden, and it is always the second plan for weather.

A planner’s notes on 620 Loft & Garden

The weather plan is the loft

A rooftop garden needs a second plan designed as carefully as the first. Here the loft can hold the whole evening if the sky turns, and the design should work in both.

Midtown arrival

Guests arrive in the heart of Rockefeller Center, which is busy at every hour. Arrival, drop-off and the route to the roof deserve a plan of their own. We agree the entrance, loading and drop-off with the venue well before the day.

A smaller, finer wedding

The garden and loft suit a wedding of a size where every guest can see the cathedral. For a larger guest count, the design starts from the loft.
