Weddings at The Rockleigh

The Rockleigh is a ballroom and gardens in Bergen County, across the Hudson from Manhattan. It suits a large wedding that wants room: room for a ceremony, for a long dinner, for a design that fills the ceiling. We have planned more than one wedding here, including one with a floral installation suspended over the whole ballroom. Two weddings in the same house looked nothing alike, which is the highest praise we can give a venue.

What makes The Rockleigh special

Scale. The ballroom can take a design that would overwhelm a Manhattan room, and the gardens give a ceremony daylight and air. A marble staircase, a courtyard with a fountain and a ballroom beneath crystal chandeliers give a large wedding three settings without leaving the house.

The ballroomDinner and dancing

High enough for an installation overhead. At one of our weddings, a ceiling of hanging white flowers and crystal ran above every table, with white, blue and blush arrangements below. At the other, tall pink and red arrangements rose above the tables in violet light, and the first dance was in a low cloud across the floor.

The marble staircaseArrivals and portraits

White marble with a wrought iron balustrade. It is where the wedding party gathers for portraits, where a cathedral veil can fall the length of the steps, and where the couple can make an entrance the whole room sees.

The courtyard and gardensPortraits, a ceremony in daylight

A stone courtyard with a fountain and tall evergreens, for the wedding party’s portraits and for a ceremony in the open air when the season allows. At our royal wedding, the ceremony took place beneath a canopy of white flowers and crystal.

What we know that most couples don’t

Installing overhead

A ceiling installation is built by a crew, not by the florist alone. We plan the rigging with the venue, the load-in hours and the order of work, so the flowers go up last and fresh, and the room is lit and checked before the first guest arrives.

Two settings in one day

Not every Rockleigh wedding holds its ceremony here. One of our couples married in a church painted with icons and came to The Rockleigh for the reception, which gave the day a sacred setting and a grand one, with the drive between them built into the timeline.

Guests from Manhattan

The Rockleigh is in Bergen County, across the George Washington Bridge. We plan coaches from Manhattan hotels timed around bridge traffic, and transport home at the end of the night so no one has to drive.

The house’s own kitchen

The Rockleigh is known for its own catering, so the menu is planned with the house. We work alongside its team on the tasting, the timing of each course and the service around the design.

Questions about The Rockleigh

Do you plan weddings at The Rockleigh?

Yes. We have planned weddings at The Rockleigh, told on our pages for the royal wedding and the wedding in white and blue.

Can The Rockleigh hold a large installation?

Yes. We have suspended flowers and crystal above the whole ballroom. It needs a rigging plan agreed with the venue, a crew and time in the load-in, so we plan it months ahead.

How far is The Rockleigh from Manhattan?

It is in Bergen County, New Jersey, just across the Hudson. The drive from Midtown depends on the traffic over the George Washington Bridge, so we time the coaches for the hour of the day.

How many guests does The Rockleigh suit?

It suits a large wedding with room to spare. The venue confirms current capacities for each room, and we plan the floor around your guest list.
