15 Dos and Don’ts of choosing your wedding dress 👰

Wasn’t it the first thing you thought about right after the proposal? Of course, no. You had been thinking about it so many times even before he proposed 😆💞 And that’s understandable because choosing a wedding dress is the most exciting and the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I know that a lot of you have already created tens of “dream dress” boards on Pinterest and even chosen “your favorite”. The funny thing is that a chance of getting the dress you’ve already liked is really low. But no worries, I’m sure you’ll find your perfect wedding gown.

So, you have approximately 8 months ahead, beautiful solitaire engagement ring 💍, a few credit cards and a strong desire to find your dress. Here what you should and shouldn’t DO:

1. DO find a great bridal store – ask friends for referrals and check the reviews online. 2. DO shop early - DON’T push back the wedding dress shopping. It takes around 6-8 months to create a custom dress on average + at least 8 weeks to make the alterations. 3. DO plan wedding dress shopping as a full-day activity. It is not an after-work routine – you need to be cheerful and inspired, not exhausted. You'll probably need a day-off because the best time for shopping is a weekday. 4. DO be an “Early bird”. DON’T schedule a late appointment in a bridal salon, when the staff is tired and won’t be eager to help you. 5. DO visit more than 1-2 salons to find “your dress”, but DON'T visit too many places. Please 🙏 The story of my life: 6 months, 3 cities, numerous salons and finally that dress. I love my dress with every fiber of my being, but it’s been a long journey. 6. DON’T try on the dresses you can’t afford. It’ll blow your mind and make you upset. There is an abundance of beautiful dresses in each price category. DO stick to your budget and check sample sales, trunk shows, previous collections for any discounts. 7. DON’T forget about extra payments if any alterations needed. 8. DON’T freak out about the dress size. Wedding gowns usually run 2 sizes bigger, so don’t pay attention to the numbers. Order the dress that comes closest to your size and have it altered or custom-made for you. 9. DO the last fitting 2 weeks before the wedding day. 10. DO choose the best dress silhouette for you, but at the same time, be open-minded to try other styles as well. Experiment. You never know – maybe you’ll fall in love with blush midi retro dress. 11. DO consider a style and a concept of your wedding. You don’t want to wear an elegant embroidered Zuhair Murad gown at your rustic barn wedding. 12. DO go shopping only with a few!! friends/family members. The ones you will listen to. DON’T invite the whole bridal party. It will be overwhelming and won’t help you to find a consensus. 13. DON’T forget to wear a proper bra and take your wedding shoes to your fitting. 14. DO consider the comfort of the dress. It is crazy important. "Beauty knows no pain” is not an option here. You need be able to move, dance (at least a little bit) and, pardon, go to a bathroom. 15. DO feel your dress. It can perfectly fit you, but if you feel embarrassed with its décolleté, it is not your dress. Find the dress that makes you feel confident, sexy and just the one ❤️

Good luck 😉
